COMPETITIONS 2019 IMPROVING WEEK TO WEEK

Active weekend for La Tova - Advisory Almudévar with the participation in four races during the past week.

The activity began on Wednesday with the XLII “Santa Quitería” Trophy in Higueruela (Albacete). Very fast race, average speed of 45 km / h, with several steps through a soft port that stretched the peloton. As the kilometers advanced, the platoon lost units ending in the first group after the solo winner, Felipe Orts, Ibón Cañete and Raúl Nicolás.


The main course was concentrated in France in a new round stage by the Oscense team. The return began with a prologue of 5 kilometers in which the rain was the protagonist. The young British promise against the clock, Joshua Sandman, asserted his skills as a timekeeper to get a 4th place and first runner under 23 of the lap, wearing the white jersey.

On Saturday afternoon, the second sector of the day with a mountain stage ending in Luz - Ardiden. Again the bad weather was the protagonist with a strong fog on arrival.

After the first two mountain passes, a leak without the presence of any La Tova - Almudévar Advisory team. The team assumed part of the responsibility and pulled the squad to reduce differences with the race head. Thus, after many kilometers 'paddling' the package, the escape was neutralized in the own rise of Luz - Ardiden, where Adrián Barceló, runner and manager of the team, made a great climb with the group that would win the stage victory . After a long ascent, Barceló finished 8th.

With the batteries charged, Sunday began the last stage of the lap. Like the previous stage, the race rolled at high speed and after a few kilometers, Barceló and Antonio Montón leaked in the day's escape. Thanks to the good understanding of the runners, the difference increased with respect to the platoon getting an income of up to a minute of advantage that, little by little, would go down. Barceló, along with another runner, distinguished themselves on the run in search of stage victory but were neutralized 500 meters away.

With regard to the general classification, Barceló would be the best classified of the team in 11th position followed by Ibón Cañete (28th), first year runner who is signing a great season.

On the other hand, the Catalan cyclists of the Aragonese team showed a great level in an important event such as the Individual Time Trial Championship of Catalonia played in Sùria. Daniel Mellado made a great time trial being 2nd sub23 and 5th ranked absolute. For his part, Raúl Nicolás finished 12th sub23 and 18th absolute.

At the end of the week, the British cyclist Elliot Reed was traveling to England for a race in honor of a recently deceased friend. Reed was very combative during the race showing great performance.
